Without my family by my side through these three years, I would have buckled under the pressure. Reagan and Elliot, you are a constant source of joy for me, and your energetic and courageous approach to life inspires me everyday. Thanks for cheering me on and reminding me that I can be whatever I want to be!
To my husband Al, none of this could have happened without your continued support and patience. Agreeing to take on the financial burden of me going back to school, for the third time, is a luxury that is not lost on me. I see how excited you are for me, and know you take pride in my desire to better myself and chase my dreams. |
To my Mom and my sister,
Mom, I thank you for all the pre-dawn arrivals at my home to take care of the kids while I drove 1.5 hours to my practicum site! This degree could not have happened without your willingness to help. In a way, this degree is me following in your footsteps of so long ago when you worked as a psychiatric nurse - your stories remind me how far we have come with understanding mental health. I hope I've made you proud, and I cannot wait to introduce you to my special classmates at Convocation in Calgary! Sheri, my big sister, without you to gripe to for several hours on the phone, I may not have gotten through! I bounced so many psychological theories off you, and together we began to untangle our histories and childhoods. I am glad that I had the chance to support you through the challenges that unfolded in your life over the past years, and am humbled by the wisdom and insight you possess. |

Sweet Esther, my dear canine companion. You sat by my feet for hours on end as I typed paper after paper late into the night. You never judged, but always listened - you were, and continue to be, the perfect therapist.
